We're all staring at the under hanging fat part of my arm. Which you don't want to show anybody even in the dark and now because a bee just stung me. Yeah, I'm allergic to bees. I just popped a Benadryl you may not make the show I was

Charlie Ponger:

putting Nani Urso baking soda

Debbie Nigro & Charlie Ponger 00:49

Debbie Charlie:

What is it what this place? you know, I haven't gotten stung by a bee since I don't know 20 years 20 years today right now

Charlie Ponger & Debbie Nigro 01:08

unbelievable. And you fuckin Charlie

Debbie Charlie:

out what is that? Oh, and I kept pulling stuff and like pulling something out from under my arm I go I thought it was food. Yeah, because you never know with me when we're gonna have a brand muffin I don't remember the brand muffin

Charlie Ponger:

Oh my god. And then Luz says Oh, it wasn't the lookout it was about a millimeter. It's about a millimeter. I stepped on it.

Debbie Charlie:

Yeah, yes. Small Bee with a giant appendage. My luck

Charlie Ponger:

that's it you said all fair. You said I go bees tiny gravity and a big dick.

Debbie Charlie:

Yeah, you did. Anyway, on your arm I got nanny Nani Urso's baking soda.

Charlie Ponger:

Paste. It's the paste that makes a big benadryl. I'm putting paste on the fat of your arm. I gotta hold it up. And like, it's

Debbie Charlie:

so obnoxious. That this poor girl just showed up

Charlie Ponger:

right? Luz, Luz. Hi.

Luz Michelle:

I have to kill it. Don't worry.

Charlie Ponger:

So Luz is a stand up comedian. I met her well, actually, I met her afterward. But I went to this gig in Lewisboro, New York, you know, South Salem area. It was at the library and I thought it was around Father's Day. And I thought what the what the hell? I'm gonna go see some stand up comedians.

Debbie Charlie:

Wow, that really right? Big insight into how you spend your father's day. I went by myself I don't want to say like most fathers with their family. Why? You

Charlie Ponger:

my kids hate my gut. No shows the library

Debbie Charlie:

with Luz 75 different nationality backgrounds.

Charlie Ponger:

Unbelievable. She's born in Colombia. She's Native Indian. Right? She is adopted by two Jews and she lives in Staten Island. What else do you need to say?

Debbie Charlie Luz:

Listen, Luz, you don't want to say another word. Luz, do they have any native Indian Recipes for bee stings? Come on. I'd probably say baking soda. He won't even in Colombia. What are the Jewish parents? What would they do for a beasting?

Luz Michelle:

Everything and were goin to the.doctor the way

Debbie Charlie:

it's so good to meet you. Yeah.

Luz Michelle:

This was a great introduction. Yeah. Charlie.

Debbie Charlie Luz:

She's done stand up at Caroline's, you've done the Laugh Lounge. And then she's a producer. She has this company called Hard Headed Comedy where she puts together comedy shows for up and coming comedians. I love it. Right and established comedians I did stand up a couple times. And I kill it but I'm afraid. Everyone's afraid. I know. Really. I'm so afraid. I can't go back. I was I was so good that there was a contest and they give you they they had a green light that was like go and then a red light Shut up. Right. Yeah, to move it along. Yeah, I got my first laugh. I was like, I don't even like you can flash those lights like it's an emergency road cross. Train costly. I'm not getting off here. And I just love loving the light. love getting the laughter So you live for that. Isn't it just fabulous when you make people laugh? It's just it's a joyful gift. Yeah.

Luz Michelle:

And I love drugs and alcohol. fact that I can feel it. Yeah, no,

Debbie Charlie:

it's right now that's great. You

Charlie Ponger:

are great. I mean, and then I ran into her in New Canaan, Connecticut, of all places.

Luz Michelle:

We were the only Hispanics. Yeah, my husband and I. Yeah, it's

charlie debbie luz:

it's so white in New Canaan. And you know, look out cooler hair is right. And I was like, God, I hope I meet this chick again after the lewisboro Gig right? And there she was like a week later and in New Canaan at this freakin restaurant. What was the name of that restaurant? I always forget. It was like, back and back end worked. Yeah, in New Canaan. No way. No, you know, so I ended up there with my friend Quinton and Jon Moxley. And Jenny Drew.

Debbie Charlie:

That sound very very pale to me. Oh, those works. Well, John

Charlie Ponger:

and Jenny claims that her family came over on the Mayflower. Ask her

Debbie Charlie:

well if you're not pale, jenny, if you're listening, pale and you're on that Mayflower you're gonna be wait. Yeah, that trip was rough fashion people came over back in the day with no cell phones no like direction they got on a boat and went across the ocean mean those are brief people

Charlie Ponger:

well, they when you when you have to get out of somewhere or whatever you want, they don't even know where they're

Debbie Charlie:

going. So desperately wants to get out. Anybody who's left their home country to come to a new country for a new opportunity to me has my greatest respect. I don't know that it has to do, very

charlie Luz:

Oh you're veryseriously right now. Debbie asked me, me, ask me. Hey, Luz, how about when Debbie said, Charlie, will you take if I have to go to the hospital? You take me? We didn't even say Yes, right away. I was because I had to chip cubes and Luz said, it's your house. You got to take her you have

Debbie Charlie:

no idea how much pain they mean. Really?

Charlie Ponger:

That tiny little thing

Luz Michelle:

that's not tiny. That looked like a hole?

charlie Luz:

That could you imagine then when I got stung on my unit three times by Hornets,

Debbie Charlie:

I told you, yeah, that's the pictures you shouldn't use for match.com. All right, let's about Luz. Now. When you go on stage, right? Do you have an act that you have perfected or you kind of flow with it? What's your thing when

Charlie Ponger:

you're Are you Miss improv all the way?

Luz Michelle:

No, I'm definitely not miss improv. Okay. I do both. Yeah, I'll say like, I like to riff. And then I like to do material that I know is always gonna work. Yeah. Yeah.

Debbie Charlie:

So what are we so when you're talking about obviously, your

Luz Michelle:

your heritage, the background, marriage and parenting that will get them? Show up? Right? It's just so different. But is it? Like if I was in Staten Island, or Brooklyn, New York, it'd be completely normal, right? Everyone's yelling and cursing at their kids.

Charlie Ponger:

In South Salem, and she's at this, she's at this gig, right? Everybody was older than me. This gig, right? They were and she's killing it. It's funny, and they're just sitting there. Like, you know, they're sitting there. And I'm like, I don't know how she doing this. Oh, man. Yeah,

Luz Michelle:

they come up at the end and they are like I had such a great time. Thank you so much. And I'm like you did? Yeah, because sometimes you don't know some people respond to comedy in a different they could be laughing inside. Yeah, actually.

Debbie Charlie:

Yeah. So I'm still alive. Right. Okay. Yeah. Here. I may have to leave in the middle of the podcast. Whoa. Why did these things hurt so much? No, really? That's outrageous. That little that little thing just put me in tortured mode, right? Yeah,

Charlie Ponger:

I know. You were tears when you were freaking out. I'm gonna drink this water.

Debbie Luz:

Look, I'm allergic and I took a Benadryl right away. But that's not enough. There's not a lot of time. Really? That's bad cell service here. There's no service. Okay, so So what is the game plan was so lose work with me. What's the game plan if something gets worse during this podcast from this piece? Dang, we'll leave

Charlie Ponger:

loose here to finish the show. I'll take you to Mount Kisco Medical Group is that it's four miles.

Debbie Charlie:

Okay, that's good. Yeah, well, you got time in an hour from when you took the Benadryl? Okay. Why that doesn't work in advance

Luz Michelle:

after an hour if you don't feel 100% Right you do right now? Yeah, and you gotta go somewhere. Yeah,

Debbie Charlie:

I am so nervous. I was just on the phone. Look we have we have a segment of the show called like who's on injured reserve? Do you now do you have the sound effects for who's on injured reserve?

Charlie Ponger:

That right now? One I can make one up

Debbie Luz Charlie:

because you talk to everybody and nobody wants to hear anybody else's BS. Okay, though how you doing? Like oh, I just gave that doctor my backing like okay, but I gotta go I love you. But I was just on with the doctor. Yeah, who because I got the foot thing. And you know what the worst thing about the doctor is you call them yeah, there's somebody you have to go through hoops each time you push all the numbers to get to an actual human then they go they want to know all your information again in case you changed identities from yesterday and then they've said okay, and we'll send a message to your doctor's office fine and someone will call you back and then you always miss the call. Where are you going? They call from random numbers that you don't know who it is you're gonna answer your phone anyway yeah random number then you like hear the message like oh shit they go call us back so you try again? Yeah voluntary back to thing back to Lady same thing yes address phone number weight size again announced in the last fucking phone call five minutes ago yes, give me the doctor and then you call and they go okay, we'll have somebody call you back and then you missed that call because your fingers on Oh my god. It's just like I think you're okay with the bee sting thing by the way based on how you were just I'm exhausted Yeah, I don't know right

Debbie Charlie:

lose. Could you just handle talking the rest of this show one year you

Luz Michelle:

Luz, . it's very warm in here She's

Debbie Luz Charlie:

very warm, right? Surely does that too? Yeah. Do you have any illnesses or anything crazy body part problems at your age here but what I don't say how much younger but you're get hate her two younger than us.

Luz Debbie:

Yeah, I'm 42 Yeah 40 year old I except, except now you know, I don't I know I haven't fallen apart. No, just like my mind. You know?

Debbie Charlie:

That big kahuna thing between your ears. That's a tough thing to manage man. That's

Luz Michelle:

that's the only thing that needs more help and drugs and a doctor.

Charlie Ponger:

How do you like driving around here compared to

Debbie Charlie:

Staten Island

Luz Michelle:

which drives me fucking nuts? Yeah why everything's one lane. Yeah and you got people who go 35 miles an hour? Yeah and we have out here fucking massive cyclist. Yeah you know I was never a hater of bikers out here there's no lane for them yeah so you're sharing these massive snake roads with them and you're the bad guy

Luz, Debbie, Charlie:

yeah guy bad guy oh

Luz Michelle:

man you're the bad guy No many of them are fucking flip me off when I roll down the window I'm like why are you flipping me off? You know and he's like You tried to kill me I'm like yeah I fucking woke up and was like I'm gonna fucking kill somebody find a bike lane What do you doin?

Charlie Ponger:

How about how about parking spots negotiating for parking spots competitor is a competitive for you?

Luz Michelle:

not at all no not at all out here

Charlie Ponger:

find it terrible

Luz Michelle:

yeah yeah there's no spots in Brooklyn and Staten Island City there's no spot yeah that's fine

Charlie Ponger:

How about people cutting you off or pulling out in front of you stuff like that

Luz Michelle:

it's the fucking kids it's the kids teenagers yeah the ones getting late Range Rovers and BMWs for the 16 Fucking birthday all the ones Yeah,

Debbie Luz Charlie:

you know what I was just thinking Well, I'm glad we don't allow cursing on the show, Oh, I said we do three beginning we just you know what? We're not gonna because it's been we can be better than that. Meanwhile, I want you to know outside of this microphone I find a few F bombs they're in my car right now. I'm listening to you and and I only hear when somebody else is saying it. You do not hear it when yourself. Yeah, right. Right. Very true. There's no fucking way I would

Luz Michelle:

I did a PG rated Mike the Thursday night? Pleasantville? Yeah, every word out of my mouth and I apologize.

Debbie Luz Charlie:

Oh, you did? Yeah. You know that is a word. Unfortunately. That is illegal. Which shouldn't be I think it's an illegal Yeah. It's an it should be an it's an embellishment.

Charlie Ponger:

Of course it is. Yeah.

Debbie Luz Charlie:

Did you see that? Oh, that effing house was killed. That was killer. Killed. That episode is the best song I've ever heard. It's embellishing. It's embellishing and but you would not you just want to do it in front of children. You have children do that. Do you curse at your children?

Luz Michelle:

I don't curse at them. But I curse around them. They're gonna circle. Yeah. Around. Like I'll say things like if they do something they know they're not supposed to do it. But like, why did you F N do that? Like what happened? What happened? I don't want to see what happened. I've been like that since potty training. I was not I'm not the mom for potty training. Like I was the one who was like if they took off the diaper and they peed on the floor right next to the toilet. Like I was just like I don't I don't understand. I'm breaking down Firelink it doesn't feel good. So why what's not connecting? It was it was taking kids how old five and a half and seven and a half

Debbie Nigro:

to a very young age and what's going like what's happening in their world since I don't have five and seven I have grandkids grand three year old and a three month old but I'm not missing. I don't know what's happening with the five and sevens what's going on with them?

Luz Michelle:

You know? I'll say for all the parents it is real to be apparent right now for a youngin yeah, there's just so much happening at such a rapid pace right you turn on the news just hasn't happened and 45 hudred years and your like mom is the theme at camp today carnival Yeah, it's like on the fucking what's going on? Right Yeah, and we went through a pandemic like locked down for practically I

Debbie, Luz:

don't know how you did that with children. I felt sorry for everybody the children I

Luz Michelle:

again if I can't potty train, I can't homeschool. Right?

Debbie Luz Charlie:

Right. Yeah. That's that's good signal that's not gonna go well.

Luz Michelle:

Day 115. Were going over the alphabet and still nobody in the room knows what comes after D?

Charlie Ponger:

is that your fault?

Luz Michelle:

Everything hitting you when you're locked down. You're like it is well first of all, I know it's me. I have no patience. I have no. And like my husband runs a company. So he was in the office working right. And I was with the kids and it was it was

Debbie Charlie:

very hard for him. It was something Yeah.

Charlie Ponger:

And did you go and yell at him? Oh, I

Luz Michelle:

was the aggressive wife was right outside the room with the vacuum, hi are you having a good day? talking to people, that's good, that's good, We're making volcanos?!

Luz Debbie:

I was spiralling, Oh, yeah. You were where was the outlet for your comedy during the pandemic? Virtual? Ah,

Luz Michelle:

yeah. So originally when I launched my comedy company, it was hard headed comedy. And then yeah, boom, the pandemic hit. So, timing. Great timing. So good. I landed a managing job literally in that February 20. Oh, it was so much happened at once anyhow, yeah. But through it. We have to adapt. Right? That's what I learned. I have to adapt. I can't sit here and freak out. I'll freak out. But I have to adapt. Right? So I launched a show called Still Standing Monologues. It's still happening now and loving days bi weekly on Twitch.

Debbie, Luz:

What is tWitch? I never was on Twitch. So makes me Twitch thinking about it. I have I know. It's a whole world you tell me about twitch? I know. Tell me about where do you get it? Where do you access it?

Luz Michelle:

Online? twitch.com.com twitch.com. And you can see anything live like music, video gaming and comedy shows poetry like all of it. What I love about it is it's still happening. And I didn't know how big Twitch was until I stayed on after like, 2022 I still stayed in and

Debbie Luz Charlie:

really, Charlie, we gotta get on to twitch they make the wrestling show still killing going down.

Charlie Ponger:

How's the how's the baking soda working?

Luz Michelle:

Should we? Like how are you is your heart like? What are you feeling?

Debbie Luz Charlie:

You're making me nervous saying that. Now my head feels a little funky. Probably from the Benadryl kicking in yeah, that's all my face is mixed with Nitro. My face feels like it's getting funny over here. This is killing me. How could that little thing hurt me so much. You sure the Stingers not still in there? No. I looked. How could you see like a giant arm?

Charlie Ponger:

I spread your skin out.

Debbie Charlie:

And you put the baking soda when you more baking soda? No, it's good.

Charlie Ponger:

Are you sure this stuff works? Yeah, it worked on me.

Luz Michelle:

I mean, it's the most natural.

Debbie Luz:

Alright, let's get past my situation. It's a big situation getting stung by a bee when we are mixing and it's really warm. Imagine how she feels Can you imagine how I feel all right. I think I might know something else come on. You're funny.

Luz Michelle:

Do something dance! good talking about the heat in here I can even put a fan

Luz, Charlie:

I can fight with two ladies two beautiful women really? The

Debbie Charlie:

point was the

Charlie, Luz:

point I can't take it anymore I'm now getting fucking hammered over here. I got the Bee sting it's fucking hot in here before you know Luz gonna turn on the go into closet turn the vacuum and go You're right yeah,

Debbie Charlie:

you should be part of this show

Luz Michelle:

Yes, that'd be fine

Debbie Luz Charlie:

all right yeah we need to wait to just be me and him yeah essence Italian and I got you know I got essence but it's garlic we need to change it up

Charlie, Luz, Debbie:

Charlie Ponger:
