Luz Michelle, Harrison Wise, Debbie Nigro, and Charlie Ponger

00:01

Hey everyone, welcome to the official teenagers I'm Charlie ponger. With Debbie and I grow and lose. Who are you here with?

Luz Michelle:

I am here with my handsome husband, Harrison wise. And he is coming to us for the day, and he's going to represent what he does every day from the bluntness media. We're going to talk about cannabis today.

00:21

Hi, hi,

00:23

guys. Thanks for having me today.

00:25

So did you smoke

00:26

pot before you got here?

00:27

I took an edible and smoke pot.

00:30

Are you proud? Yes,

00:32

I am all in on today's show. So

00:33

why are your eyes not red? Does that not happen anymore? I

00:36

guess not. I'm immune, your immune, immune.

00:40

No kidding.

00:41

So the theme of the show is cannabis. Honesty. Really cannot be honest. Can we can we? Can I be honest. And I think we all still have opinions about cannabis that maybe are not so agreeable with everybody else's. And everybody's got their own feelings. And there's still a stigma, which I think you agree to is happening in the world even though it's all nice, nice. And we're talking about it and everybody's making money or not making money. It's legal somewhere and not that we're stigma

01:10

very much so very much. So the religious look at alcohol and how it's treated versus cannabis. It's completely marginalized still, even though it's legal, it's accessible, but it's treated completely differently than alcohol even by people members of your own community. Families even will give you the side

01:26

eye oh my gosh, yes, for sure. I

01:28

pot you know, so it's still happening, even though it's legal. And it's medicine. And, you know, it's just it's unfortunate.

01:35

Your firm does what all day long, firm.

01:39

So I have a marketing agency that I've run for 15 years called wise collective and we specialize in PR for several different industries. Technology, predominantly cannabis since 2015, and sports media and entertainment.

01:50

Wow. And you're in tell us the other pieces of the puzzle about Yeah,

01:53

what the hell do you lose? You know, she's so all of a sudden she goes from being Miss aggressive to miss submissive. Did you see

02:04

my husband? This is a guy who side of me when I'm around them.

02:09

This is the guy who's done pretty hard for the pilots union who's you know, on the story of Sully Sullenberger? Yeah, you mentioned that the whole time we've known

02:16

we never had a conversation about it.

02:19

Harrison cannabis as a category hot right now,

02:24

they're very hot industry, a lot of growth industry, for sure. It's an industry that sort of emerged out of nowhere. So there's definitely a lot of positives and we've made a lot of progress. But there's still a lot of work that needs to get done. A lot of advocacy, there's still people in jail for weed, basic weed, you know, kids and stuff people were, I mean, it's not our country. So you know, but Singapore just how not to take it all in a sad direction. Yeah. You know, yeah, for cannabis like they have they literally terrible like it's so it's still a stigma all around the world, even though it's plant based medicine has been around for 1000s of years, like it is. It's absurd.

02:57

Yeah. Well, I just want to know what kind of clients Yes, not necessarily named to the clients, but what kind of companies want you to get the word out are

03:03

the ones that are licensed and coming to market and want to basically attract people who are new to cannabis or you know, even you know, longtime consumers of cannabis to come and buy safe weed that's been tested, grown properly, and you have a selection of things that are safe for you to consume, and you can use and derive benefit from.

03:23

Okay, I think we should all be honest and go around the table as to how we feel about cannabis gummies the whole thing just so we know what we're dealing with here. I don't know. Oh, I'm sure I

03:31

made a massive mistake. Cuz I had some pain. I was normally using this other stuff from the store. It was fantastic. But I ran out and I was too lazy to go to the store. So I went to the friggin gas station. And I asked the guy Stupid me I asked the guy behind the counter what's a really good one for painting? And he said this thing so I opened it up I didn't even read it.

03:53

He asked a mechanic is a mechanic we

03:55

do not condone this

03:57

opening up and I took the whole gummy. I get back to here. I'm typing on the computer and all of a sudden my head started going and I put my arm out and I saw a five hands and I went like this and all my hands went my hand when what that assaults is I like him Am I having a fucking stroke?

04:24

I thought I was having a stroke. What have you learned from this experience?

04:27

Well when you get on the bed you put your foot down on the floor.

04:31

Your head stop spinning stabilize. You

04:33

can't close your eyes. lasted till the next day.

04:37

I think I think the moral of the story is don't buy gummies from mechanics

04:41

it's like sushi sushi. You only go to a gaseous and take a shit by water you get a lotto ticket. Yeah, that's

04:47

it. Not even paw for doughnuts. Yeah,

04:51

I have never taken I've never taken a gummy. That's my opinion because I don't like not knowing when it's going to hit me. I got things to do and I'll forget I took it and then before you Oh there I am and then I can't get out of it I don't want anything I can't get out of row I want to know how much time I have to get out of whatever just went in. Right and I don't know they

05:08

all smoked we that our friend had right yeah, he didn't know what you were getting. But now thanks to legalization, we have safe products to consume and you know exactly how much you're taking. You know how long it's going to take to kick in and you start slow you microdose and you work your way up towards something that's comfortable for you. You're using it to sleep using it for aches and pains you're using it just to just feel good okay find your your sweet spot okay lose it in legal cannabis allows you to do

05:35

that lose the the judgment call on a mom who chooses versus having a glass of wine to have a joiner and yet they they're looking at you the same no you

05:46

see side by side irons are totally cool with it but could you imagine me rolling up given from a walk with a joint up to a group of moms whether whatever genre is music art soccer like it's no it's still looked down upon right

06:00

if you open if you drove up with an open gin and tonic and one of those cup and

06:04

I'd get cheered I'll be completely socially acceptable that's kind of whacked is raising a mom can pull out a flask from her baby bag and it's totally acceptable I pull out a joint I'm standing in a different side of the park Oh yeah, but not everywhere. There's someplace I can go to whip out a joint and it's completely chill you have

06:26

no idea the amount of grandmothers who are pulling joints out behind the reading glasses case you know and then like oh, so I have a question about strains of marijuana and you do PR for all the things they sell these things okay happy pot silly pot sexy pot. Do you promote individual brands as to what they do for you?

06:45

Yeah, so a lot of depends it depends on the brand every brand is different and they they target a different demographic some will cater towards effects right so they're just trying to sell you in effect this is a an OP type of cannabis This is a you know more of a sleepy time type of cannabis and then there's other types that are more lifestyle oriented like they market to the hip hop audience or urban audiences summers more skateboard culture so there's a whole spectrum

07:08

so bizarre so tell me I'm curious what venues allow cannabis advertising that you work with so

07:15

out of home is predominant and like billboards on certain certain roads and you can't really advertise cannabis specifically you have to a lot of people market apparel so there's always loopholes within any laws it's all about how do you interpret the laws How do you interpret the market

07:31

apparel the person smoking a joint to come

07:33

to the dispensary now brand name and brand new branded apparel like hats

07:37

car Why do they call it like liquor stores? That makes sense to me? Those are everywhere. dispensary. That sounds kind of like underground. Sounds

07:47

subversive. Right?

07:48

So yeah, it sounds fun. It is. Yeah. Why can't we call them pot stores or marijuana? Bar, but why did they Yeah, or bud bar? That's a good name. Deb.

07:58

I'm sure someone else has it. But

08:00

But why did they call them you know, dispense? Or is there some sort of legal thing that goes along with those and

08:06

it's just highly regulated? still treated? You know there. There's still your shits being shunned still, but it's good to have access to legal cannabis because again, you like your gas station experience that was brutal. You know, you don't bison, it's prevalent that type, those type of products are prevalent and there are risks to that.

08:23

Okay, PR grew cannabis is one category. Do people not want to do business with you? You have other category sports you said and what else do you do in terms of acknowledging, acknowledging, just doing one deter anybody from who wants to work with you for the others time? Some

08:38

people prefer a niche, a niche or specialized agency? Absolutely. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. There are other generalist firms most big agencies have multiple categories and underneath their umbrella, so it's not unusual. I came up in the big agency world, they have divisions for every single category, and they serve at all. So it's like, click Debbie Debbie. I'm actually curious person. So I love I love the variety that that offers. I just lean into it.

09:02

Debbie was referring to when people not use you. Because you're in the you're doing PR for cannabis. And those other categories. Yeah,

09:12

no, that hasn't happened. There he goes. Yeah.

09:15

Have you been surprised ever? And I'm sure your answer is yes. And who smokes pot and does gummies that you would never think in a million years

09:25

you know, I've seen a lot so it doesn't surprise that doesn't surprise me anymore.

09:31

A better when I see it. Even if it's cocaine I'm like cool. We should do

09:38

now but you know, people who seem straight laced all of a sudden No Yeah. Oh, that was shocking. Like I didn't see that all the

09:45

time.

09:47

Interesting to see how that unfolds. So Connecticut cannabis is different I don't know if you guys know that. No, we're we're right across you know, yeah, far from Connecticut. Go to a dispensary. Check it out once at one time. What happens there the name of weed is very Clinical so it's almost like a prescription. Oh, so it's not like you know, Girl Scout Cookies yeah widow or chem dog or whatever the prevalent strain is right you know, so it's completely like like Mars so it sounds so

10:13

just is it like Lily, Lily Lily Lily butter Lily put I want to put strain or something like that.

10:21

Very dry, get educated, it's very just come in and get your bag and leave. Like there's no experience

10:28

in Connecticut, the area and some Darien must do they must show up in their wheel suits and the whole thing their wheel pants and their muffin and buffin and Norwich sort of stuff, right? You know? And then they're like, Hey, can I have some of that stuff that makes me trip my brains out. Dude.

10:48

Oklahoma was one of the first places to have what is sort of a cannabis lifestyle like lounge placed and it was medical cannabis, but they put music and coffee and drink. So they made it like an attractive venue to come hang out.

11:01

That's a big category. I

11:02

think a lot of the companies are trying to get people for the lifestyle to come hang out.

11:07

That's happening in Vegas and New York is definitely gonna lean into that in a big way. Yeah,

11:12

the Hangout, just nobody wants to leave after that people fall asleep on the couch is

11:16

dominos. So it's sort of like a version of Starbucks, but

11:22

yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly.

11:23

It may be some books in there to read library for a long time.

11:27

There's drinks they're just they're cannabis drinks. Oh, there's no cannabis bar. Yeah. Oh, you mean no there'll be THC and like a Mai Tai. There'll be THC and like a pina colada like there's you're just not having alcohol you're having cannabis you

11:41

could have infused meals to experiential things like that like full on dinners lamb chops you name it.

11:46

You walk out of there like

11:48

snow. No, because it's it's it's staggered the meal. Yeah, you know, you take a smoke break in the middle. It's all part of the experience. You're the you're there. Oh, wow. Vacation, right?

11:58

Is there a cannabis bouncer for people like me who would be hysterical friggin laughing can uncontrollable like, I don't know what this debate is. I can't control myself and everybody. Is there somebody who like kind of controls the the the outcome

12:13

doesn't usually happen. You just go outside. Oh, you know?

12:21

Why don't do this stuff. Because I wouldn't be able to find outside. I don't know what's going oh my gosh. But anyway, this is great. Because it's a very big growing industry and you are the king of getting the word out. So I'm happy to meet you cuz we heard all about you.

12:37

Cool and smart. I'd love to come back anytime Harrison.

12:41

Harrison Why don't you be the cannabis reporter Yeah.

12:45

Even love that reporting live from New York City from New York from the joint from the joint. That would be a good name for a segment. The joint the joint.

12:56

Oh my god Virginia.

12:57

already kinda has.

13:00

Yeah, that joint. Alright, every single segment.
